EL BONGÓ physics announces the start of the second semester beginning Monday, July 27, a period during which the Latin American student community will be able to select advanced training content and, for those who have met the requirements, develop a multi-week experience in some of the research groups of the partner institutions. The deadline for registration will be Thursday, July 23, via the form.
This advanced training offer constitutes the second phase of the first cohort of EL BONGÓ physics. The student community will be able to choose up to three specialized training micro-courses, lasting eight weeks each, whose content will be related to: relativity and compact objects; medical physics; high-energy physics; cosmic rays; computing tools and Artificial Intelligence; statistical mechanics.
Likewise, for those who have completed the required credits, professional research internships will be offered to take place during the final quarter of the year. This experience, funded by the project, covers a ten-week stay in some of the research groups of the partner institutions in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, for which the various communities are currently developing the internship offerings in different specific projects.
As is known, EL-BONGÓ physics (E-Latin America Digital huB for OpeN Growing cOmmunities in physics) is an Erasmus project that seeks to democratize physics education and research for the university population in Latin America. In the year 2026, the first cohort is being developed, in which various research communities in the region have been defining the pedagogical strategy to strengthen scientific skills through a collaborative and open approach within the student community of the partner countries.
